I understand that NHLBI will use a new Vector Core contractor. May I still order from the Vector Core Facility?
The PEGT Vector Core Facility will remain in operation for a while, possibly until mid-2007. Until further notice, we will continue to supply vectors from our stock inventory, in limited quantities (2 units). (That is, we will no longer offer large-scale preparations of stock vectors.) Neither will we produce custom adenoviral or retroviral preparations.
How
do I place an order?
Before
requesting reagents from the Vector Core pre-Clinical Reagent Program,
you must first register
with us. Your registration will be valid while you remain at your current institution.
However, if you leave your current institution and still
wish to order reagents, you need to reregister from your new institution.
The conditions of use of the reagents that you agree to when you register
remain in effect for you and your institution as long as the
reagents or materials derived from them remain at the institution.
If
you register online or use our Catalog/Ordering module to order
reagents, you must still print out and sign the completed forms
at the end of the module. Registrations and orders are not processed
until we receive originals of the forms, signed in ink.
Do
you accept Registration and Order Forms by FAX?
Registration
forms are NOT accepted by FAX. Original, ink signatures are required
on the Registration form. Order forms generated using our
online
catalog can be submitted by FAX. All other order forms must contain
original, ink signatures.
Do you accept Registration and Order Forms
electronically?
No.
You must print out and sign orders and registrations generated electronically,
and send the hard copies to us. Your paperwork will not be processed
until we receive the signed documents.
How
much do the reagents cost?
All
of the reagents listed in our catalog are free. However, you must
pay for the shipping costs by providing us with your account number
with a Shipping Company.
What
is a Release Category?
Reagent
donors are asked to state the restrictions on commercial use of
their reagents. Scientists who wish to use reagents for commercial
purposes can only do so under the terms of the release category
specified by the donor. The five release categories are:
A - Reagent may be used for commercial purposes without an agreement
with the donor.
B - Recipient agrees to negotiate in good faith to share with the
donor's institution the income arising from commercializing the
reagent.
C - Recipient must sign an agreement with the donor's institution
for commercial use prior to receiving the reagent.
D - Recipient must select Release Category B or C prior to receiving
the reagent.
E - Recipient must not use or incorporate the reagent for commercial
purposes.
Can
I request more that one item per order using your online catalog/ordering
module?
Yes,
you may request as many reagents as you need in a single order.
How much
of one item may I request per order using your online catalog/ordering
module?
You may request
no more than 2 units of a reagent in a single order.
How
long will it take to get my reagents?
Scientists
in the US can generally expect to have their order shipped within
seven business days after the request is received. If additional
paperwork is required, or the order forms are incomplete, the order
will be held until all outstanding issues are resolved.
Because
of the requirements for export permits and regulations involved
in shipping hazardous materials overseas, researchers in foreign
countries can expect to wait two to four weeks before receiving
their order. Orders to registrants in Germany and Japan, which require
additional export documentation, may take even more time to process.
How do I pay my shipping costs?
You
must pay for the shipping costs by providing us with your account
number with a
Shipping
Company. Your shipping company will bill you directly; you will
not be billed by the Vector Core pre-Clinical Reagent Program.
